WA 3D Archery

There are many different versions of 3D archery around the world – from NFAA, IFAA, ASA and lots of national variations including in the UK, NFAS (National Field Archery Society). All these variants shoot at rubberised foam, life-like animals, and each use slightly different scoring systems.

World Archery 3D most closely resembles ASA (Archery Shooter’s Association) in terms of distances and scoring. Whilst not identical, the overriding concept of both variants is one of pin point accuracy.

In WA3D, the targets are set a maximum distance of 30m for unsighted classes and 45m for Compound Unlimited. Unsighted classes include Barebow, Longbow and Instinctive styles. Unlike IFAA 3D for example, any size target can be set at any distance to the respective maximums. 

Courses comprise of 24 targets and 2 arrows are shot at each target per archer. Scoring is 11, 10, 8 & 5 points depending upon where the arrow hits the target. Therefore the maximum score per target is 22 points.

Archery GB run selection shoots throughout the year at various clubs, although currently the number of clubs able to host these events is somewhat limited. 2019 saw the first Archery GB National 3D Championships which were held in Scotland. Hopefully it will be the first of many.
